God Mode have multiple meaning. Gamers like this mode to be invincible, whereas Windows 7 has a special hidden folder, once enabled then will be in God Mode. This is a folder that brings together a long list of customization settings allowing you to change all your settings from one place. Although its name suggests perhaps even grander capabilities, but windows user and administrators can welcome greatly this folder for technical and tweaking intervention. But some of us would have wanted greater boosting of the windows 7 via a real God Mode.
Enabling god mode is quite easy:
- Create a new folder
- Name it: GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
- That’s it
This creates a folder which more or less gives you categorized access to each and every setting in Windows – at least, each and every setting that is accessible as a search string – 265 settings in 50 sections. This could be handy in case of diagnostical intervention.
As the normal Control Panel folder (accessible via Start -> Control Panel) contains all the same items but with a custom view designed to be easier to navigate. The “All Tasks” folder has no custom view, so you just see the standard Explorer list view.
“God Mode” is in fact, it’s a piece of functionality called “All Tasks”. To see this, open the registry editor (run regedit) and navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ CLSID \ {ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

God mode registry
You can explore the various GUIDs of a machine within the registry, typically below HKEY_CLASS_ROOT \ CLSID which is also where you’ll find the GUID ({ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}) for the dialog in question here. In addition to this, the ability to create a folder with any name followed by the GUID has been in the operating system for a very long time.
One can create separate shortcuts that opens a shell folder or control panel item in straightforward manner. Start by right-clicking any empty space on the desktop or in a folder. Right-click and choose New Folder. Type the name you want to appear under the shortcut, followed by a period and then the GUID shown in the list here, complete with curly braces on either end. Press enter and voila, you’re done.

While this trick is safe for all versions of Windows 7 (both 32bit and 64bit), the situation for Vista is different. Windows Vista 32bit users can use this trick, but Vista 64bit users cannot. In case if explorer crashes, then boot into Safe mode command prompt, navigate to the god mode’s parent folder, and execute
rd /s God[Tab].
Or else reboot into safemode go to desktop directory with this comand
cd c:\users\USERNAME\desktop.
Then run the following command:
rd /s “GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}” Click Y, when asked.
Recently, Go GodMode was released and this will help you in creating GodModes with a click, thus also allows you to add over 50 GodModes to folder and desktop context menus for the quick access.
